OK, Bag Monster is a moronic name, but Monster has become a catch-all phrase for "Hey, this will help you do something" This section will help you find the bags you're looking for (like you're really looking for them). Leaving everything blank will retrieve a list of all bags, however that may cause the page to load slowly.

Japan Air Lines

Approximate Vintage: 1981
Received From: Toshiaki Anan

Much like the 1982 offering, except no tear strip or tab. Straight top.

I love that they printed an arrow that points to, you guessed it, another arrow.

Japan Air Lines

Approximate Vintage: 1983
Received From: Edward C Hibbs
Print or Image Color: Orange Tab
Lots of 80's straight parallel lines. They changed the closing mechanism from 2 tabs to 1, and the fastidious Japanese altered the diagram to show the extra tab!

Japan Air Lines

Received From: Jo Boyd
Print or Image Color: Blue with Blue Tab
Background / Bag Color: White
Identical to the 1983 version except the tab is now blue.

Japan Air Lines

Approximate Vintage: 1995
Received From: Ken Costilow
Print or Image Color: Red and Black
Background / Bag Color: White
The bag says 'This may be used also for air sickness.' Hey, what a novel idea!

Japan Air Lines

Approximate Vintage: 1999
Print or Image Color: Red and Black
Background / Bag Color: White
Same as 1995 bag, except mechanism reverts to a tab, instead of tear off.

Japan Air Lines

Approximate Vintage: 2003
Received From: Stuart Hickson
Print or Image Color: Red and Black
Background / Bag Color: White
After two decades of parallel lines on their bags, JAL finally excises them for this cleaner version with what looks like a hyperactive hair growing out of their logo.

Japan Air Lines

Approximate Vintage: 1972
Received From: Andrew Angel
Print or Image Color: Blue
Background / Bag Color: Blue
Old Logo surrounded by flowers.

Japan Air Lines (JAL)

Approximate Vintage: 2015
Received From: Bob Grove
Print or Image Color: White, Gray
Background / Bag Color: Gray, White
This Waterproof Disposal Bag has all sorts of non-English instructions in Japanese, Chinese, Korean and some other language that looks like Chinese. Maybe you can weigh-in on this conundrum and let me know the mystery language.

Japan Air Lines Group

Approximate Vintage: 2002
Received From: Reiner Schulz
Print or Image Color: Red and Gray
Background / Bag Color: White
I'm really not much a fan of the pegboard design, but it is very representative of Japanese design, aesthetically.

Japan Air Lines JAL

Approximate Vintage: 2007
Received From: Thorsten Hecht
Print or Image Color: Pink, White
Background / Bag Color: White, Pink
JAL goes for subdued colors in its most recent offering. This bag has D in the gusset, which probably means it was made in Germany (Deustcheland).

Japan Air Lines JAL

Approximate Vintage: 2007
Received From: Thorsten Hecht
Print or Image Color: Pink, White
Background / Bag Color: White, Pink
JAL goes for subdued colors in its most recent offering. This bag has J in the gusset, which probably means it was made in Japan.

Japan Air System (JAS)

Received From: Bruce Kelly
Print or Image Color: Blue
Background / Bag Color: White
If you look at the instructions on the obverse, you see that they assume English speakers know which order to fold the bag after use, unlike Japanese speakers.

Japan Air System (JAS)

Received From: Harry Robertson
Print or Image Color: Blue
Background / Bag Color: White
The Japanese seem to have a penchant for repeated horizontal parallel lines. Back of bag instructs you outright to hand the bag to the cabin attendant.

Japan Air System (JAS)

Approximate Vintage: 2002
Received From: Reiner Schulz
Print or Image Color: White
Background / Bag Color: Blue and Navy
243 (!) instances of JAS decorate this bag. The airline also feels it's important for you to see the vital message, "Good Speed Always" although "Mediocre Usage Occasionally" is more fitting.

Japan Airlines

Received From: Toshiaki Anan
Print or Image Color: White
Background / Bag Color: Gray, Charcoal
I don't know if this is the same airline as JAL, but if so, this bag is a radical departure from all their other offerings, if for no other reason than there's no instructions.

Japan Airlines

Approximate Vintage: 2014
Received From: Xusheng Chen
Print or Image Color: White, Charcoal
Background / Bag Color: Charcoal, White
In an ever-changing world, Japan Airlines decides to update its bag by adding more instructions / languages, not to mention another color ... White.

JAT

Received From: Robert Masumura
Print or Image Color: White
Background / Bag Color: Red, White
It appears that there are two planes on the front of this bag, but you can make the illusion disappear by treating the bag as a stereogram and crossing your eyes to make them merge.

JAT

Received From: Christian Annyas
Print or Image Color: Red, Blue, and Silver
Background / Bag Color: White
Same as earlier JAT, but plastic and shiny. Love the Super Mario Brothers-like clouds.
